Do you want to know how the diplomats of various countries conduct negotiations on international issues?
Are you curious about the organizations and conferences in the United Nations?
Have you ever dreamed of becoming a diplomat on the world stage in the future?
At Jinan Thomas School, students have the opportunity to become the“little diplomats”in class and broaden their international vision!
The middle and high school department currently set up Model United Nations elective courses and club activities to engage students to learn in different ways, which has progressed ahead in a promising way.
Let us take a look at the performance of the students in class!
The course is co-managed by the Jinan Thomas High School’s A-Level sociology instructor Mahdi and English instructor Kira.
Both instructors have past experiment with the MUN and the UN.
From the initial ignorance to the rich knowledge reserve, students have learned a lot of UN knowledge.
The students have learned about the basics about the United Nations, improved their interpersonal communication skills, expanded their vocabulary, and practiced holding caucus and voting.
And they practiced holding caucus and voting.
Many students said:"It turns out that diplomats must have a roll call procedure like students when participating in international conferences. But it’s more formal!"
In the class, students change their identities. They become the diplomats of different countries.
Next, let’s take a look at the wonderful moments of the middle school students as diplomats from various countries.
During the Model United Nations Conference, they’re called the delegates from each countries.
After being familiar with the basic meeting rules, students have also conducted research on the positions of different countries on marine plastics waste and the COVID-19 pandemic and used this to guide them in their MUN simulations.
Some diplomats at MUN believe that multinational cooperation in science and technology can reduce plastic waste in the ocean.
Some delegates think that education is an important way to solve the problem and raise everyone’s awareness of ocean protection.
These are very constructive proposals!
One of the objectives of the MUN elective course is to teach the students about global policy and diplomacy.
Well performing students from both the middle School and the high School will be eligible to represent Jinan Thomas in different MUN conferences in the future.
Students in the Model United Nations class, the future is expecting you on the journey of diplomacy!
