Picasso said,"I could very easily paint like a master, but I will spend my whole life learning how to paint like a child!"
Not only Picasso,Matisse,Kandinsky,Milo and other great artists are particularly appreciative of children's painting.
In children's art education, children from 3 to 8 years old are called"master stage".
Children are eager to get to know the world around them, and draw their own unique feelings without being influenced by experience, knowledge,or the opinions of others, which is a type of pure beauty.
As a front line HighScope teacher,I would like to talk some more about artistic creation.
In the PDR part of the HighScope course, children will complete their plans by representational painting.
In the plan list, they will draw the areas where they want to work, the things they will do,the companions they want to play with, and quite often, the teachers also appear in the drawings.
There are five large areas situated in the HighScope classroom, the art area of our class is always one of the busiest places.
Not only are there common art materials(such as paint, brushes, silly putty, etc.)that can stimulate a child's creative desire.
Old items(such as cartons, bottles, wool, etc.)and natural materials(such as dried flowers, pebbles, shells, etc.)that can fill a child with creative passion are also incorporated in the art area.
In the reading and writing area, children in kindergarten are more likely to draw characters than to write.
They draw their own names, numbers, letters, symbols that only they can read.
They draw the funny things they see in picture books, and some of them even make sequels to picture books.
In my class, the children designed and made their own unique observation notebooks.
The children would draw the growth conditions of plants and animals, observed in the natural corner, into their own observation notebooks.
Sometimes, you’ll find that the points that the children saw or were interested in were really unique.
In the drinking water record area, let the children draw their own identifying images so that they feel drinking water is an interesting act, this is the charm of art.
K4-A's child,during PDR time,sees a new material in the art area--bark.
Andy asked,"Teacher, what is this for? It’s so dark, how does it work?"
I said,"Honey,you can pick it up,touch it,look at it,or smell it.Maybe you'll come up with something new."
Andy happily shouted,"This could be a woodpecker's home!"
In this way,six children in the art area, using bark, paper clay and a variety of other materials, created their own interpretations of"Woodpecker Catching Bugs".
In the reading and writing area, the children finished their own little English alphabet book during the PDR segment after many days of hard work.
Creative art occupies an important position in the eight fields of the HighScope preschool curriculum, which are visual art, music, rhythm, pretend play, and art appreciation.
Visual art refers to children's expression through two-dimensional and three-dimensional art to represent their own observations, imagination and feelings.
As an important element of visual art, painting shows different levels of development at different ages.
There are no two identical leaves, nor two identical children, nor two identical works in the world.
My children, the teachers will not tell you what the world is like. You need to see with your eyes, hear with your ears, feel with your heart, and create with your hands.
There are so many art masters in my classroom.Every day,I will appreciate and listen to the inner world of these masters.I want to be a teacher who can"listen to paintings".
In my classroom, the children are unhurried, unrestrained, and free to doodle anything they can think of.
Happy children love to draw,HighScope children are very happy.
