2019年11月5日，“西岸美术馆与蓬皮杜中心五年展陈合作项目”于上海西岸美术馆揭幕，法国总统马纽埃尔·马克龙出席仪式，他在致辞中表达了对中法经济文化交流成果的肯定与新期许，也表示了对中国当代艺术以及当代艺术家的喜爱。在提到法国艺术家时，他说，为法国有Jean Nouvel这样的建筑巨匠，在中国留下重要的作品而喜悦和骄傲！
努维尔是当代建筑界首席大师之一，这位普利兹克奖得主在中国的首次个人展览“让·努维尔：在我脑中，在我眼中……归属……”于11月6日在上海当代艺术博物馆开幕。努维尔设计的西海艺术湾也将亮相于当天的展览，作为中国美术馆建筑的代表与世界级艺术资源进行对话，展示中国对当代艺术的新态度。
西海艺术湾作为努维尔在中国的第一个项目，第一栋建筑已于2017年9月20日落成。这片多元化的国际艺术社区正在海边自由生长，一座艺术家的花园即将绽放。
西海艺术湾®是山东省及青岛市重点文化产业项目，位于国家级新区—青岛西海岸新区，背靠银沙滩，北倚唐岛湾。建筑由法国建筑师让·努维尔（Jean Nouvel）设计，并联合法国景观设计师吉尔·克莱芒（Gills Clement）及法国科学院植物学家帕特里克·布朗(Patrick Blanc)，原创性地将艺术教育、艺术创作、艺术展览、艺术品交易、艺术体验融入75%的绿化率中，“诗意”地呈现55栋形态各异的建筑单体，形成以当代建筑群落为特征、自然园林为特色的创新型艺术湾区。
The Artists'Garden®is a key cultural industry in Qingdao,Shandong.The project locates in the national-level new district-Qingdao West Coast New Area,back resting on the Silver Beach and facing north towards the Tangdao Bay Park.The architecture is designed by French architect Jean Nouvel.Project also invites the French landscape designer Gilles Clement and the botanist of French Academy of Sciences,Patrick Blanc to participate in the design.They have been creatively integrating art education,art creation,art exhibition,art trade and art experience into the 75%green coverage ratio,and presenting 55 distinctive building units in a poetic way,collectively forming the creative Art Bay with its characteristic contemporary architecture and natural landscape.
